In addition
to receiving our regular Legislative Updates, VALCV members are invited
to join our CAV! (Conservation e-Action Virginia!) email action network
of online environmental activists -- citizens who have limited time, but
still want to make a difference during the General Assembly session.

The CAV! system uses
email to put you in touch with legislators and other key decision-makers
while they are working on issues such as clean air and water, wilderness,
sprawl, transportation, growth management, toxins, pesticides and forestry
among others.
The CAV! email alert
system is a free service and your email address will not be used for any
other solicitation or purpose. You can choose to discontinue participation
in the program at any time.
CAV! is currently
comprised of the following Virginia conservation organizations: Coalition
for Smarter Growth, League of Conservation Voters
Education Fund, Preservation Alliance of Virginia, Scenic Virginia, Sierra
Club-Virginia Chapter, Virginia Conservation Network, Virginia League
of
Conservation Voters, Virginia Organizing Project.
The CAV! coalition
works together to produce and send out environmental issue alerts to the
individual members of the CAV! email action network. We keep you informed
by alerting you to critical environmental issues via email, and then ask
you to respond via email to an elected official, administrator, or industry
leader.
ALERT SCHEDULE
We will email approximately 10 alerts per year (5 during the legislative
session). We will also send issue updates to let you know about the issue
and
the impact of our network - we will not send more than a couple of emails
per
month!
HOW
IT WORKS WHEN YOU GET AN ALERT
When you receive an issue alert via e-mail there will be:
- A brief overview of the issue (e.g. growth legislation) with a place
for
you to get additional information if needed;
- Instructions for sending the alert via your e-mail or the web;
- A sample letter
for you to edit and send via e-mail. The CAV! system will
automatically route your email to your legislator based on the street
address you include in your profile. With one click you can reach your
legislators.
